The Student Senate is composed of two councils: the Executive and Legislative council. The Legislative council is composed of three committees: 1. Advocacy and Relations; 2. Events and Activities; and 3. Clubs and Involvement.
Endeavoring to develop student leaders who inspire a culture where scholarship compels practice, the student government exists to advocate for student needs and interests, empower student ingenuity, and initiate occasions for fellowship, spiritual growth, and cultural engagement.
This committee seeks to represent your needs and interests to the faculty and administration. If you are interested in making a student proposal for ANY change you would like to see, this is the committee to come to! They will walk you through a brief process so that your proposal can be heard by the Student Senate and the Academic Dean's Council (ADC: the primary decision-making body of the faculty).
The advocacy committee met many successes during the 2007-2008 academic year. We were part of initiating an alteration to the new tuition policy, getting updates to washers and dryers on campus, having dorms open during school breaks, and seeing a student leadership chapel for next year. It's been our privilege to bring your requests to the adminstration this year and we're excited to keep running with you next year!
This committee seeks to initiate occasions for fellowship, cultural engagement and spiritual growth. Lots of fantastic events will be happening Fall Semester--starting with the New Student BBQ on Thursday, August 25th and followed up by the All-School Wildhorse Canyon Retreat September 11-15th! Registration will begin the first week of school!
If you would like to see a club or interest group formed, organize a mission trip, or initiate special opportunities for the student body, this committee is designated to help you through the process! It seeks to provide opportunities for student leaders to create, design, and develop new ways to reach the needs and desires of the community at MBC.
